Strawbees from Sweden came out top when the best of Nordic edtech was on show at the Nordic Edtech Award at Oslo Innovation Week on Wednesday.
Five finalists, one from each of the Nordic countries, pitched for The Nordic Edtech Award 2018 at the at The Edtech Day at Oslo Innovation Week, All finalists represents the Nordic Edtech core values: Equality, Democracy, Quality, Motivational Learning and Efficiancy.
The finalists for the Nordic Edtech Award 2018:

Hands on creativity and problem solving with construction and code
Denmark – Acadal
Meaningful adult life-long learning and training in large organizations
Norway – Leap Learning
Teaching children to learn how to learn. Combining technology and hands-on games into a flipped classroom – the Leap Learning Labs – with different stations, focusing on logic, literacy and numeracy
Iceland – The Captain
Managing personalised learning in all subjects without overhead on teachers
Finland – WordDive
An AI-based app for learning foreign language speaking skills
The winner receives prizes including a space at the Entrepreneurial Marketing Program for Creative Tech at Nordic Innovation House in New York this autumn, and a fast-track to the xEdu Spring 2019 program in Helsinki, Finland
A jury consisting of Hege Barnes, Director Innovation Norway New York, Tim Praill, Head of Navitas Ventures (AUS), Niko Lindholm, Project Manager Smart Learning Enviroments (SF), Svenia Busson, Founder at Learnspace and Edtech Tours (F), Nikolaj Plagborg-Møller, Future Learning Manager Danish Technical University (DK) chose the winner.
The Nordic edtech community is getting in formation and there are many promising and exciting entrepreneurs in our countries. Through joining forces and pulling together, Nordic edtech has the opportunity to take a position as the best and most competitive in the world. The Nordic Edtech Award winner and finalists are great examples of this.
Nordic Edtech Alliance is a partnership between Nordic Edtech communities and actors. The aims of Nordic Edtech Alliance are to support and profile Nordic Edtech internationally, where the Nordic Values of Equality, Democracy, Quality, Motivational Learning and Efficiancy are core values. The goal is to attract Nordic and International investors to invest in Nordic Edtech companies and to build bridges to international markets for Nordic Edtech companies and suppliers. The Nordic Edtech Startup Award is NEAs first cooperative initiative.
